  1. SPS882 & SPS852Ordering & Upgrades Process

  2. Ordering Process benefits • Pricing structure and use of Partner Store means easier to stock the product that the customer wants, at lower inventory cost. • Dealers can purchase a single part number for SPS882/852 units at a lower cost and stock up so that they can supply users faster. • Dealers can customize (activate and option up) the receivers they have in stock at time of sale. • Speeds up shipping, reduces configuration delays especially at end of quarter. • Removes Trimble Global Support personnel from the receiver upgrade – saving time, faster turnaround by dealer. Dealer can stock up option upgrades in Partner Store. • Warranty date set to 12 month warranty date Based on when the receiver is shipped to the actual end user not when it was purchased for stock.

  3. SPS852/882 Ordering Process • Dealer will order SPS GPS product using the Trimble store. • Dealer will order a “defeatured” SPS852/882 receiver kit. This means it can work only in Autonomous mode. • Remember no options are loaded into the SPS852/882 by RFC – this means the receivers arrive at the dealer with no capability. They must add ‘IS’ options for it to be useable. • Dealer can order various SPS ‘IS’ options/ upgrades anytime before, during, or after the receiver order. • Dealers can purchase upgrades later and send the user the code for input

  4. Dealer ordering Partner Store part numbers • Order your IS part numbers in advance and access them 24/7. • They are not tied to receiver serial numbers at ordering time. • The UPG part numbers are no longer needed. • ** these can be used on SPS880 and SPS881.

  5. Examples of dealer orders • 1) Precise RTK rover and base • SPS882 with 430-450 MHz radio 81849-64 • Upgrade to Precision RTK rover/Base IS50989-10 • GLONASS option IS60989-20 • 2) Location RTK rover only • SPS882 with 900 MHz radio USA/CAN 81849-91 • Location RTK with precise vertical (10/2) IS50989-15 • GLONASS option IS60989-20 • 3) Pre-purchased options only • 5x Upgrades Precision RTK rover/base 5x IS50989-10 • 5x GLONASS options 5x IS60989-20

  6. RFC Shipping • The RFCs hold “defeatured” SPS852/882 models (with the radio modules installed that are sold out of the ARFC or ERFC). • When they get an order, they no longer install any options or program the 450 MHz UHF radio – this is now the dealers task. • RFC capture the serial number of the receiver shipped as usual.

  7. Dealer task on receiving SPS852/882 • Turn them on for basic QA, then place on their shelf, and go and sell them! • The receiver can work in an Autonomous mode only at this stage. • That means no RTK/DGPS rover or base capability. • Use the WinFlash utility to confirm the options installed.

  8. At time of sale to an end user (1) • The dealer ensures they have ordered and received the upgrades/options on Partner store. • Dealer goes to the Construction Partner Store to activate receiver. Enters serial number of the receiver and retrieves activation code for the receiver. • The dealer must always install the ‘no charge’ activation code. Sets the Warranty date to the current date + 12 months and also sets the receiver into a mode ready for upgrading.

  9. At time of sale to an end user (2) • Dealer enters the serial number of the receiver into Partner Store for the other options/upgrades. • If internal radio is 450 UHF, use the Dealer WinFlash utility to set correct radio settings and receive/transmit frequencies. • The Dealer WinFlash utility and instructions for radio programming is available from the Trimble Connected Community SPS site and Partners site. • If internal radio is 900 MHz, the dealer does nothing as it is set with the correct Country Code.

  10. Post sale Example • End user wants to add Precise base station capability to an SPS882 Location RTK rover • Dealer orders the P/N IS50989-11. • No serial number is required at time of ordering IS parts. • Once cleared the credit appears in Partner Store as a Credit. • Dealer enters the serial number of the receiver and generates the code, and enters that into the SPS882.

  11. DOA & Service • A “Dead on Arrival”? • When a dealer has a unit and its being checked into their store and is “dead on arrival”, they request an advance replacement. They order a FRU (receiver only). Since the activation and options are not used, they are still available for loading into the new FRU. • DOA time is from shipment from Trimble • A Service case? • When a Service Provider fits in a new board or if the entire setup is needed to be reinstalled. If the board is new, they set the serial number to that of the previously dead board and then obtain the activation and options for the given serial number from the Construction Partner Store.
