  2. Events pre & post celebration date • 15 July 2015 • Starting with the year 2015 there will be many pre celebration activities. • There will be many activities after the celebration day • Priority will be given to school activities, sports and fundraisers

Objective • Rekindle the rich and glorious heritage St. Benedict’s College has achieved over the 150 years in academic, sports, value creation and cultural diversity through the discipline & leadership of the Lasalian Brothers and lay staff members Editorial strategy • Research the archives of the Lasalian Brothers both in Sri Lanka and overseas (Oxford) and extract appropriate articles and stories • Research and write special feature articles that will serve the 150th anniversary magazine. • Reproduce relevant articles from the Centenary magazine and other publications that will support the core objective Design strategy • A professional design company will undertake to produce artwork for the entire magazine utilising modern day software and design. • The magazine will be printed in full colour to the highest quality standards utilising high quality paper, stitched and bound in hard cover with gold foiling including a protective dust jacket

Proposedmagazinestructure cont… • Our rich history covering the early years of College, the Lasalian Brothers in Ceylon, including available historic photography etc • Historic academic achievements will feature the many first’s in education that College produced over the years • Living legends will be a section of living Old Bens who have excelled in sports, education & careers. It will also cover retired living Brothers and teachers and leading religious luminaries who studied in College • Sports heritage covering the dynamic sporting eras and articles written by prominent sports personalities who represented College and the nation in Cricket, Football, Basketball, Hockey and Rugby including any photos

Alumni will cover a photograph of the 150th anniversary elected College OBU, Welfare, OBSC, Dance committee and other associations and bodies, when they were established, their roles and responsibilities towards the Alma Mater • Foreign branches foreign branches in operation, when they were established, significant contributions made to College and a photograph of the present ExCo, their roles and responsibilities • College bodies such as the 150th year Teacher’s guild, Prefect’s Guild, Scouts & Cadets, Western & Oriental bands, Western/eastern dance, Shakespeare drama, College choir, Debating, Computer society, Science society, Environment society, Commerce society, Literacy unions, etc • The primary school will feature a photo montage of facilities, teaching staff, student photos by class etc

Millennium and beyond • The College today will cover the many achievements of College in education, sports and extra curricular activities since the millennium • Infrastructure photography of the present buildings with short narrations of their emergence. • It will also capture the 2015 teaching staff cadre, admin/clerical staff, prefect ‘s guild and students by class, sports teams, athletic teams by age category and other relevant talent pools etc, • A separate photo section will also be dedicated to special events/activities carried out since the millennium including innovations, inventions, bravery, records.

How can you help • Creating excitement among students & parents • Support in researching the past through national archives, Lasalian library, College library, collating any old photography • Helping to write up interviews held with living legends • Helping to translate some articles in to Sinhala and Tamil languages • Helping to put together any special write-up such as the Science Exhibition held 2 years ago • Helping to put together any special acts by current or immediate past students such as acts of bravery, records, innovations etc • Coordinating the many photo sessions for the magazine in Jan-Feb 2015 • Involving students to write stories of the present day College • Involving artistic students to draw sketches of relevant College infrastructure and reproducing old photos through art Nominate 2 members from staff to serve in the sub committee
