  1. Infractions 101 Presented by: Panhellenic Recruitment Executive Board

  2. Facebook/Myspace Profiles must be set to Private by June 26th Every Panhellenic woman must modify her privacy settings on her online communities to invisible/disables so that any Potential New Member is unable to see their affiliation. DO NOT request or accept any potential new members during Summer B When someone clicks on your name-residence may not say Alpha Beta House at UCF

  3. Facebook Cont’d No Profile Pictures with Rho Gammas on it Abstain from joining Incoming Freshman Facebook Groups, and do not give out information regarding Recruitment, because it may be incorrect. If you are messaged by a PNM, simply direct them to the greeklife.sdes.ucf.edu website where they can find information on Recruitment and go to the Panhellenic Webiste or have them call OFSL

  4. Facebook Cont’d • Chapters are responsible for making sure that there roster edits are up to date. I.E. if someone is on your roster and she has graduated and her facebook profile is not set to private by the deadline the Chapter will be fined $25 per member per day. Which in turn your Chapter will hold YOU responsible for these fines.

  5. Review!! • When do profiles need to be set to private? • June 26th • Can I join the UCF Freshman 2013 facebook group? • No!!

  6. “Dirty” Recruiting Promising Bids before/or during recruitment Giving a PNM gifts before/during recruitment Giving Preferential treatment to specific prospective member Should be talking about Sorority Recruitment as a positive experience, not just promoting your own chapter.

  7. Meeting a PNM Before Panhellenic Recruitment Week If you meet a PNM in the Summer, talk about registering for Panhellenic Recruitment but stay away from any specific details about any chapter (including your own) Suggest that they go to OFSL to obtain more information, i.e. the Greek Book or we can help sign them up for Recruitment The more PNMs are signed up in general the better quality of girls each chapter will receive therefore-Encourage to go GREEK not just your Chapter.

  8. Review!! • Name a behavior that is considered “Dirty” Recruiting. • Promising bids, giving PNMs gifts, showing some type of preferential behavior. • If you meet a PNM in your summer B class, what should you say to her? • “Greek life is great! Sign-up for Recruitment on the Panhellenic website or going to the Office of Fraternity&Sorority Life for more information!”

  9. During Recruitment Parties No promising Bids (i.e. “I know I will see you tomorrow”, “I can see you as my little” “Can’t wait to see you tomorrow.” Or engage in any behavior that will lead girls to thing they have a guaranteed spot. You can say things like “Have a great rest of the day” No “Hotboxing”-when two members of a chapter are talking to one PNM at the same time. Do not come out of the house until you are advised by your chapter Recruitment Chair. Do not write letters to PNMs during the parties.

  10. During Recruitment Parties Cont’d. Do not let PNMs walk out with any drinks/or any objects in their hands period. Do not cross the threshold (the entrance of the location) during Party.

  11. Review! • Can you tell a PNM “I hope I see you tomorrow” as you help her exit the party? • No you can not, because this is implying that she will be returning to your Chapter for the next days parties. • What is “Hotboxing”? • When two or more members of a Sorority single out a PNM during a party and feels uncomfortable in the situation.

  12. Behavior at Bars DO NOT WEAR SHIRTS OR BRING OBJECTS WITH YOU THAT HAVE YOUR LETTERS, SYMBOLS, OR COLORS OR ANYTHING THAT CAN BE INTERPRETED AS REPRESENTING YOUR CHAPTER AT A BAR (I.E. CUZZIES, BUTTONS, BAGS, ETC.) A bar is a place where its main service to its customers is to serve alcohol (Knight Library, Scoop, Devaney’s, Knight Club and T.D.’s are all considered Bars, but are not the only places that are considered bars.) Buying drinks for Girls (especially underage) *This is bad PR for the whole community, it reinforces Sorority stereotypes

  13. Behavior at Bars • If you see someone from your own chapter or another chapter wearing their letters in a "bar"- you may have your recruitment chair or president write a recruitment infraction against that chapter.  If you are able to take a picture, please do so.  You will need to be a witness in that chapters judicial process. • If your chapter violates this rule, a copy of that recruitment infraction will be sent to your headquarters.

  14. Boys and Recruitment • Men should not be wearing your sorority letters at bar, ask them nicely to respect your Chapter and its integrity during the entire Recruitment process( beginning in Summer B) • Active sorority members or alumnae may not visit fraternity houses that are being used by another chapter from the day the chapter begins recruitment practice until release on Bid day. There will be a $25 fine per chapter member/alumnae present.

  15. Review!! Wow! Your becoming experts on the Rules already!! • Can I wear my “Alpha Beta Loves Knights” button to the bar on my purse or my clothes? • No! Nothing that represent your Chapter should be taken or worn to a bar. • A girl from Beta Beta Chapter is wearing her Beta Beta Shirt at the bar. What do I do? • You inform your Chapter President or Recruitment Chair of the incident and if you can take a picture.

  16. PNM Rights Be treated as an individuals Be fully informed about the Recruitment process. Ask questions and receive true and objective answers. Be respected with respect. Make informed decisions about ANY binding agreements implicit in the preference card signing.

  17. PNM Rights Cont’d Have and express opinions to Rho Gammas Make your own choice and decision and accept full responsibility for the results of that decision. Have a positive, safe, and enriching Recruitment and New Member experience.

  18. Repercussions for Infractions Infractions will be handled in a case to case basis according to the rules stated in the National Panhellenic Manual, the UCF Panhellenic Constitution and the Recruitment Rules-but it is possible /likely that some infractions will go before the Judicial Board and the consequences will be decided there-so stay out of anything that you think may seem questionable to somebody else.

  19. Final Review! • What is the most important thing to remember before and during Recruitment? • Recruitment is a once in a life time experience and we want all PNMs to feel like they belong somewhere in our Wonderful Greek Community! And have fun!!
