Wellbies Keeping Kirkhill Safe, Happy and Healthy!
Our Pupil Groups Join Together! • We started this year as two groups – the Wellbies and the Buddies. • We soon realised that a lot of our aims were the same, or that we could help each other achieve our goals. • We joined our groups together to form one super-group! • We are called the Wellbies because we look after everyone’s wellbeing in school.
Our Members • Say hello to the Wellbies! • Why did we want to be part of the Wellbies or be a Buddy?
Why Do We Have The Wellbies • We make sure everyone knows how to keep themselves safe and healthy. • We keep Kirkhill up to date with their rights and responsibilities. • We promote Anti-bullying in Kirkhill – make everyone feel safe and know who they can talk to. • We act as role models for the pupils and teach them how to co-operate and work together. • We Buddy and make sure everyone is happy and has someone to play with in the playground.
At the start of the year we decide what we want to achieve. • We make a list of aims for the whole year and then we split them into Term Aims. • At the end of the term we evaluate our success and decide what our next steps. Our Pupil Group Action Plan
Playzone • Encouraging P1 and P2 to play games together and be good friends • Getting children to come to Playzone • Mr Sweeny provides us training • During Health and Wellbeing week we began the P5’s Buddy training for next year. • Playzone Stickers – for awarding good friends!
Rights Respecting School • New class charters • Teaching each class their rights and responsibilities • Taking part in East Renfrewshire Anti-Bullying Training with Mrs Donaldson • Achieving International School Award working with Mrs Pearce and P7
Health and Wellbeing • We suggested ideas for activities for Health Week • We helped organise Health Evening • We create Newsletters informing parents and pupils of events in Kirkhill • Helping the pupils to remember their rights and responsibilities and look after each other.
Term 1 Evaluation • In Term 1 we aimed to encourage as many Primary 1 and Primary 2 children as possible to play in the Playzone Area. We used and promoted “Cool in School” behaviour at all times and were good role models for the younger children. • In Term 1 we made sure that rights and responsibilities were a priority in Kirkhill encouraging the classes to create a new class charter.
Term 2 Evaluation • In Term 2 we created newsletters to share our work in with other pupils, parents and members of the community. • In term 2 we took on increased responsibility of running our Pupil Group Meetings by preparing information to present and bringing AOBs to meetings – like our Playzone stickers!
Term 3 Evaluation • In Term 3 we took part in new Playzone training and learned different games which we could teach the younger children • In Term 3 were were actively involved in organising Health & Wellbeing week • In Term 3 we planned to survey pupil opinions on the food in the Dining Hall and learn how cashless catering was helping people make healthy choices – but we were so busy we ran out of time!
Term 4 Aims In Term 4 we plan to • Survey pupil opinion on the food in the dining hall. • Create an active plan for achieving our Diana Anti- Bullying award. • Present to the Parent Council (tick!) and the Whole School at an assembly sharing our ideas and success.
What is Next for the Wellbies? • Achieve our Rights Respecting School Award Level 2 • Achieve the Diana Anti-bullying Award • Train new P5s for Buddying • Interview new members for our group
