GOALS • To improve the quality of higher education for students with disabilities • To make instruction, accommodations, and related services for students with disabilities completely integrated into the curriculum while we continue to provide high quality external support services
OUTCOMES • Systemic change • Increased enrollment of students with disabilities • Increased graduation rates for students with disabilities
FIVE COMPONENTS • Curriculum Design and Faculty Training • Mentoring ,Tutoring, and Academic Support • Assistive Technology • Outside Agency Support • Dissemination of Information
CURRICULUM DESIGN AND FACULTY TRAINING • Faculty receive training in techniques, strategies, and the use of assistive technology • Workshops • Summer Institute • Expert Consultants • Faculty receive stipends to create new or redesign existing courses
MENTORING, TUTORING & ACADEMIC SUPPORT • Specialized tutoring • Mentoring Project • Student/faculty focus groups
ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY • Hardware • Computers: Writing & Math Centers • Software • JAWS • Dragon Naturally Speaking • Math Manipulatives • Hands-On Equations • Fraction Strips
OUTSIDE AGENCY SUPPORT • Advisory Board • Consultant “Office Hours” • Agency Open Door
DISSEMINATION OF INFORMATION • Peer support network and web site • Syllabi and course information posted on ACSS web site • ACSS faculty peer collaboration • Conference presentations • Summer Institute expanded to include faculty from other IHEs
