Intro • We’ve always balanced the energy gain between BC1 and BC2 so that BC1 is higher gradient (~4 MeVcf ~2 MeV from BC2) so that the beam reaches relativistic velocities sooner. • However, there was an idea that reducing the BC1 energy gain would reduce the “energy drop” at the first cell and any possible adverse effects this may bring.
