Lab Model for Sample Flow Each hospital lab performs testing that could be urgent • SJMC --hub for high volume routine testing • SJMC --cross-matching for all hospitals except St. Elizabeth (Enumclaw) • SJMC performs all Microbiology • If possible, send out testing is processed at SJMC using automated line • All PAML testing is sent out from SJMC
Work Queues • CPR – Collection Pending Report • Users – Lab Assistants • Reviews collections that are overdue for receipt in lab • SA/SF/SC samples not yet to SJMC • WCP – Workcenter Pending Rpt • Users – Techs • Reviews orders in received status not yet verified • PLR – Pending log-in report • Cultures that have been SPR’d (received in lab, but not yet MSU’d (received in Micro) • PTR – Pending test report • Overdue Reference testing results (SJMC Client Svc)
Monitoring our work • RRR – Result Review Report • Can pull at any time to look for CCALL comments (Critical called and documented) Shows abnormals/CVs only • ERR – Error Correction Report • Prints daily at SJMC – includes all result corrections/comments made after a test is verified

Hospital Patient Accounts • Registered and billed by the hospital • Each Hospital has it’s own number • (0000) St. Joseph • (0001) St. Francis • (0002) St. Clare • (0003) St. Anthony • STAR label
Inpatient or Hospital outpatient accounts • Patient registered by FHS admitting • Displays as a unique patient type (I,E,O,H,T,S, etc) in Cerner • A financial # (new every visit) is assigned • STAR Labels on tubes • Get assigned a location code/nursing floor & rm #
