  2. Our Convict Past Part One I think that this video was about how they travelled around the world. But it didn’t give much information. • Problems in Australia • A problem to face was the different skin colour of the Aborigines. • The nakedness of the Aborigines. • Not seeing the other half of New Holland. • Life On The Ships • Life on ships were hard. They had to be put to work. The place to sleep, eat and go to the toilet was very small. They even had to deal with the death of people. Reasons The crime spree that was taking control of England led to convicts. 12 Judges gathered in West Minister hall in England, deciding to send them off. The war between the Americans and the British also led to them coming to Australia. As this was their only way to be sentenced to Jail.

Barnes Family – Stephen Barnes - He was tried at York, Yorkshire on 9 July 1785 for stealing clothing with a value of 39 shillings. He was sentenced to transportation for 7 years and left England on the Alexander with age unknown. He had no occupation recorded.
