COUNCIL Religious Emblems Coordinator • If the Religious Relationships Committee works primarily with the faith community, the Religious Emblems Coordinator focuses specifically on raising awareness of religious emblems and increasing usage. • The REC can learn through the RR Committee which Faith Committees are sponsoring retreats and which congregations are offering classes
DISTRICT Religious Emblems Coordinator • Is appointed by District Program Chair • Sets goals with District Program Chair & Committee • Disseminates information to Units • Disseminates information through: • Re-charter packets • Roundtables • Camporees
DISTRICT Religious Emblems Coordinator • Encourages Unit Committees to set goals (i.e. number of religious emblems that will be earned that year) • Recruits “presenters” to make presentations on religious emblems. Ask clergy of chartered partners, leaders of units that promote religious emblems, Chaplains, etc.

Unit Chaplain and Unit RE Coordinator Unit Religious Emblems Coordinator Serve as a member of the unit committee. Acquaint all youth with the religious emblems program and the emblems available from their faith group. Provide Scout families and clergy with an orientation to the religious emblems program and encourage their involvement. Urge all youth in the unit to earn the religious emblem(s) of their faith. Disseminate information to the unit’s Scouts and Scouters about any district or council religious emblems activities, retreats, camps, etc. Promote religious emblems usage like the Boy Scouts of America promotes other youth advancement. Coordinate the establishment of goals and track the number of religious emblems completed each year. Serve as the unit’s liaison to the District Religious Emblems Coordinator. Troop / Unit Chaplain 1. Assure members and leaders of your interest in them and their activities. 2. Provide a spiritual tone for all unit meetings and camping experiences. 3. Provide spiritual counseling service when needed or requested. 4. Provide opportunities for all young people in the unit to grow in their relationship with God and their fellow Scouts or Venturers. 5. Encourage Scouts and Venturers to participate in the religious emblems program of their respective faith. 6. Be familiar with the “Chaplain Aide” section of this handbook. 7. Work with the unit’s chaplain aide to plan and conduct an annual Scout-oriented religious observance, preferably during Scout Week in February.
