Embedding Production1st Prod 03/18/2011
First Production • MuKpi used for 1st Production was ran over the embedding sample at /eliza15/star/starprod/embedding/2007ProductionMinBias/D0*/*/*.MuDst.root (all D0 files) (/eliza14/star/pwg/starhf/jjoseph4/FirstProd/) The cut set failed to produce a peak in the Inv.mass plot
Cuts Relaxed An earlier run with no silicon hit requirement described in the following page shows that applying a cut SiHits>2 can destroy the signal. http://www.star.bnl.gov/~jai2006/jjoseph/21stDecember2010_NewEmbeddingPlots.htm The cuts values I used here and those used in 1st production are as below: (Red letters in parenthesis is the cut used in real data – First Production) |ZVertex| < 10 SigmaZVrtx < 200um pT > 0.1 GeV/c( > 0.5GeV/c) p > 0.1 GeV/c ( > 0.5GeV/c) No requirement on Si hits ( > 2) TpcHits > 20 (same) |eta| < 1 (same) dEdxTrackLength > 40cm (same) DCA_XY < 0.1cm (same) Probability > 0.01(> 0.1) |slength|<0.1 (same) dEdx: |nSigma|<2.5 (<2) I applied the following cuts offline one by one to see the effect of the cut on the signal significance. pT, p >0.5GeV/c SiHits > 2 Probability > 0.1 |nSigma| < 2
Inv. Mass with SiHit>1 Offline cut: SiHit>1 S/B ~ 5.26
Inv Mass with cuts similar to 1st Prod, but with SiHits>1 Offline cut: SiHit>1 pT, p > 0.5 Probability> 0.1 |nSigma|<2 S/B ~ 4.054 Should we run MuKpi with 1st Production cuts with SiHits>1 instead of SiHits>2 on embedding data?
