  5. The Gibson SG • SG and Les Paul are virtually the same except • SG has 2 “horns” • SG is lighter and is thinner • SG is more “aggressive looking”

  6. Multi-Track Recording • He would record himself playing on a disc • Then he would play another part along with the first and record that • This started multi-track recording

  7. Les Paul’s guitar career • Paul started his career in Chicago • He found his wife, Mary Ford, in 1945 and recorded songs with her such as • How High the Moon • Bye Bye Blues • Vaya con Dios • They divorced in 1962 and he made a semi-retirement in 1965.

  8. Les Paul’s life and death • Les Paul was born June 6, 1915 • Had a car accident in 1948 which shattered his arm. • The doctors told him he couldn’t move his arm and whatever position they placed it in it would stay • He had them place it a little above 90 degrees so he could still play guitar. • On August 21, 2009 he died of complications to pneumonia.
