News from tent May20 2008 HV Test of HDB West 1. Use old R-chains . In addition, there is a similar chain to the mesh. We connect short top GEM—Mesh. So, we have 4 identical R-chains in parallel. Formally, one short will change current by 1%. 2. Slowly increase HV to 3400V (dV~460V) in a single stack. Put for overnight if possible with Max #8 trips. 1% I_trip =1.01*I_nominal 3. So far tested one South side. 2 stacks (#4 and #1) do not hold 3400, even trip time to time at 3000. 3 stacks stay without any trip for 15-18 hours. 4. After all attempts to ramp #4 to 3400, increase trip currant limit to 200 mA. Yes, looks more stable, no shorts developed. For sure, allows to keep higher voltage. Needs more investigation. 5. Next step – go to North side
