Problems faced by Academics • Multiple, stand-alone data repositories for lecturers CV, eg. hard copies, electronic documents, spreadsheets, FileMaker databases etc. • Lecturers very often need to update & prepare their CV for many purposes like promotion, submission of a publication and etc. • No standard platform to publish their research activities and expertise to the public.
Problem faced by Management • There no trustable resource to get reports on the current statistic of publication by department or faculty. • Difficulties in measuring the lecturers’ performance. • Difficulties in monitoring KPI standards • e.g. academics - 2 publication/year.
Problem faced by HR • Difficulties in updating the lecturers’ CV since only 9 human resource staff are responsible in updating 3000 lecturers’ information. • Difficulties in collect the information on the research activities before approve the various expenses for conference & seminars. • Difficulties in estimating budget for future expenses for academicians’ activities.
Problem faced by Research Office • Difficulties in collecting research activities from the lecturer’s • Difficulties in producing reports on the statistics of publication to the top management and other external government offices like MOSTI & MOHE. • Difficulties in collecting and compiling the research output & award from lecturers’ from the various department.
Journey of UMExpert • Development started in early 2007. • Launched in 31 April 2007. • As an extension to the existing Human Resource Information System (HRIS). • Developed by Centre Of Information Technology (PTM). • By a system analyst and 2 programmers.
Update CV Information • This function allows the lecturers’ to update their Curricular Vitae information. • Able to generate and print their CV from any where and any time.
