Special Notes: • 5 credits per semester class is earned for grades A-D • Unweighted GPA at SPHS • Each letter grade carries a certain point value: A= 4 points B= 3 points C= 2 points D= 1 point F= 0 points • Only specific honors classes and all AP classes are given an extra point (weighted GPA calculation done only at the college admissions level, not at SPHS)

  42. Important information • Check pre-requisites and course descriptions in the online Course Catalog on sphstigers.org under the Guidance and Counseling tab. • We urge our families to select classes and class levels carefully.

MORE IMPORTANT INFORMATION • SPHS creates a master schedule for the following academic year based on student spring course requests (this master schedule includes the specific course offerings, the number of sections of these courses, the teacher assignments for these sections, the classrooms for these sections, and the period determinations). • Availability to change classes will be limited at the beginning of the new school year since the master schedule is built based on the students’ spring course requests.

TIME MANAGEMENT PLANNER INFORMATION • Please note that we have now included a “time management planner” to help students reflect on their various school, extra-curricular, and personal time commitments in order to make the best scheduling decisions. Each student must evaluate the unique set of demands that each academic course and extracurricular activity presents combined with the time and energy necessary to achieve success in these commitments while also maintaining his/her health and well-being. This form will be returned when students meet individually with their counselors.

  45. FINAL IMPORTANT INFORMATION • We want our students to make choices that are the best fit for them. Counselors are also available to help students with these decisions. • Course availability, second semester grades and/or summer school course completion may alter student fall schedules. • Changes to course requests will be accepted by counselors through June 5, 2019. • On June 6th, the master schedule will be built based on submitted requests.
