This study analyzes under 5 mortality rates in Brazil in 1996, focusing on the impact of wealth inequity on mortality outcomes. It examines the differences in mortality rates between the richest and poorest quintiles, highlighting the prevalence of severe stunting among children and its relation to child mortality. The findings suggest a significant association between wealth inequality and poor/rich mortality ratios. Additionally, the study compares child mortality rates in Eritrea with other countries on track for achieving targets.
