Things we do fund • Allotments, burial grounds, recreation grounds, ponds, green spaces and public car parks • Festive decorations, village signs, notice boards, memorials and clocks • Leisure, play and sports facilities • Community and public buildings (including public toilets) • Equipment purchases including defibrillators, furniture, AV/IT items and much more • Purchase of land/property for community use • Community website design (or similar) • * List based on the roles of parish/town councils on the NALC and loval.gov websites

Things we don’t fund • Litter and dog waste bins • Entertainment, community festivals and public art • Sport development/active communities • Community safety and preventing anti-social behaviour • Flood prevention/alleviation • General spending (revenue costs) • Bridleways, footpaths and rights of way • Street lighting, roads, traffic signs, bus shelters and verge/service strip maintenance  • Traffic calming and speed management • Community transport schemes

  5. Recent improvements • One scheme for large and small grants • Open more often • Removed the £100,000 maximum • Added a £1,000 minimum • Pay in two stages • Removed the two-year break before applying again • Revised the scoring criteria

Other grants my team look after Revenue grants • For non-profit community organisations excluding local councils and statutory bodies • Committed the funding for four years from 2013/14 – 2016/17 • Fund services that work with priorities from our corporate plan • The services we fund are offered district wide or help specific vulnerable groups Young Achiever Awards • Open to 11 – 18 year olds living in the district • Categories are citizenship, art and sport • Can receive up to £250
