  1. WP1 - International comparison and downscaling

  2. Objective • Nourishing the conceptual and technical setting of the project. 3 activities: • A11 - Comparison of around 50 PES in the world; • A12- National mapping of PES and other instruments and sites selection; • A13- Sites characterization.

  3. A11 - Comparison of around 50 PES in the world • Grey reports and reports published at the national or organisational level • Quantitative approach for typological and statistical analysis

  4. A1.2 – National mapping • Agreed for Mexico • A1.2.1: What associations of instruments do exhist in ‘ejidos’ (communities) recipies of PES? Description of instruments in synergy/divergence with PES (Statistical association and typologies – relation withdeforestationriskindicator)  TYPOLOGY MAPPING – alongdeforestationrisk; • A1.2.2: Where are these instruments taking place? (Policy mapping in Chiapas, Yucatan and Nayarit)  GEOGRAPHICAL POLICY MAPPING • A1.2.3: Deforestationanalysis for aboveworkingregions DEFORESTATION MAPPING • Sites election: [samepolicy mix]; rapidappraisal (land use; socio-economicdescriptors)

  5. A1.3 – Sites characterisationamong ejidos with highest deforestation risk • A1.3.1 – Agro-ecological characterisation • Rural economy characterisation • Land use evolution • Social-political evolution of instruments implementation • A1.3.2 – Data disponibility for WP2 • Available metadata for WP2

  6. Madagascar – WP1 • A11: Typology of PES projects – interactive mapping (around 8 and 11 sites): • Ecosystem service: type of service, bundled services, price of sold service, biodiversity importance • Actors: steering actor (int. ODA, WB…), who is benefiting, number of people benefiting (equity), [dependence on forest resources] • management model: devolution of management rights, other. Contract content • Area • Tenure regime • Existence of other instruments

  7. A12: Regional mapping: • Protected areas with buffer areas • Devolution of management rights (VOI are recipients) • Development projects • Land use change analysis (containing one of the sites)  [deforestation risk index map?] • A13: Site characterisation • Matching methodology for [3] sites, inside the sites: CI and REDD projects. WWF Goodplanet, Durrell • Agro-ecological diagnostic
