  1. How to Choose a Veterinary Clinic for Your Pet

  2. When selecting a veterinarian to take care of your pet, take as much care in your selection as when selecting your own family doctor or dentist. There are various important considerations when making such a selection – location, office hours and range of medical services offered should all be carefully assessed before making a selection decision.

  3. Not only should you understand the needs of your potential clients, but also that of local competition. Doing this will enable you to determine what sets your services apart – perhaps expertise or special approaches to patient care that set them apart; perhaps there is also an unmet niche like providing home visits for sick pets that you could fill by offering something different from them.

  4. This allows you to compare practices, staff and customer service of each one before selecting one as being right for you. Furthermore, visiting multiple clinics gives you a chance to compare which services each offers – such as x-rays and laboratory tests; some vets offer these on site while others require traveling elsewhere for these services; visiting the actual premises gives an excellent indication of cleanliness and organization within each office.

  5. As part of your research, make sure to inquire whether the vet belongs to any major professional associations in your country. This will ensure they stay abreast of advances in medicine and veterinary science; additionally it’s a good idea to inquire as to whether any specialty services such as orthopedic surgery or behavior counseling are provided in house.

  6. Make sure that you find out which payments the vet accepts before making your choice. Some clinics only accept cash or credit cards while others provide payment plans with different installment amounts and plans. As a pet owner, it should never be necessary to settle for subpar veterinary care.
