Review Evaluation Criteria • Authorship • Do the authors have training on the topic? • .com, .gov, .edu, .org site? • Currency • Is the site out of date for your topic? • Accuracy • Works cited or bibliography? • Purpose • Why was the web site created? • Is there an “about us” or “credits” section?

Your Task: Find and Evaluate a Web Site on the Topic of Plagiarism • Divide into groups of 3-5 • Find a web page that discusses the topic of plagiarism. • Evaluate the web page based on the four evaluative criteria we just discussed in class. • Answer the question: Is this a good site to use for college-level research? Why or why not? • Answer the question: How effectively does this page use inductive reasoning? • Write one page summary of your findings and create a presentation to share with the class.

A Couple of Search Tips… • Search for web pages within specific domains: Use the search command site:.edu or site:.gov to limit your search to educational or government web sites. • Search for specific document file types: Use the command filetype:pdf or filetype:doc to limit your search to Adobe PDF or Word files.
