Last Weeks Homework • Randomly pick students to provide an answer. • Write incorrect sentences on the board and ask the students if they can find and correct the mistakes. • Speaking activity using the questions that the students wrote for their homework assignment.
Midterm Partners • You need a partner for the Midterm. • Find someone in the class who you want to do the Midterm with and then choose what time you want to do the exam.
Midterm Sign up sheet: • Write your Korean name, English nickname and your Student # on the sign up sheet. • Sign up for the time you and your partner want to take the exam. • If you do not have a partner come and talk to me immediately!
Midterm On the day of the exams: • Be here at least 5 minutes before your scheduled start time. • If you are late that time can not be made up. Be there on time! • Do Not wait outside the door or in the hallway. Wait at the end of the hallway in the waiting area! When you are finished your exam go and tell the next group.
Exam Grading Fluency • Did you hesitate or have long pauses? • Did you give lots of short answers when speaking? Grammar • Did you have problems trying to use the grammar from class? Vocabulary • Did you repeat the same words? FUQs • Did you use illogical or inappropriate FUQs? • Did you already know the answers to the questions?
Exam Grading Listening • Was there a problem understanding your partner? • Was there a problem connecting to the questions your partner asked? TargetLanguage • Did you forget to use all the Target Language? Audibility • Was your voice too quiet?
Exam Grading Timing • Was your conversation too long or too short? Teamwork • Did you do more than your in the conversation? Coherence • Did the conversation jump from idea to idea? • Did you forget to follow the Conversation Flowchart from the Rubric? • Did you forget to do something the Study Guide says you are required to do?
Midterm Instructions • Remember to start every conversation with a greeting and a salutation. • Ex. Hey! What’s up? • Ex. Hi Tom. How’s it going? • Use the information on your sheet to ask and answer questions. • Ask at least 2 Follow-Up Questions (FUQ’s) for each topic question. • Give a reason to end the conversation.
