Understanding Our Enemy • What are Demons? -Demons are spirit beings without a body which seek a body to live in. -The word “demon” comes from the Greek word daimon or daimonion meaning breath or spirit -Demons manifest through a host (person, animal) -Most cultures for many years have acknowledged the existence of demons -Demons seek to take control of their host, they manifest through their actions, and personality.

  3. Understanding our Enemy (cont) • Jesus acknowledged the presence of demons. -Mark 16:17 These signs shall follow those who believe. In my name they will cast out demons… • Demons have knowledge - Mark 1:24 • Demons know who they are - Mark 5:9 • Demons have a will - Matthew 12:43-44 • Demons have emotions - James 2:19, 1 Timothy 4:1-2 • Demons can speak - Mark 1:24

  4. Demonic Actions • Demons harass - Ephesians 6:12 • Demons enslave - Romans 8:15 • Demons entice - James 1:14-15 • Demons deceive - 1 Timothy 4:1-2 • Demons torment - 2Timothy 1:7 • Demons drive and compel - Luke 8:29 • Demons defile - Titus 1:15 • Demons fights

Demon Possession • Demons enter through our sin - Proverbs 20-27, Ephesians 4:23-27 • Sins of our Ancestors – Exodus 20: 1-5, Exodus 34:6-7 • Domination of one person by another - Matthew 12:29, Isaiah 47:5, I Kings 16:30-32 • Demons enter our mind • Experimentation - 1 Corinthians 10: 14-22 • Through touching dead bodies • Through shock • Through grief • Accidents • Marriage breakdowns • Habits • Ungodly soul ties • Transference- Mark 15:3

Windows of the Body, Soul and Spirit • The spirit gives man his God-Consciousness • The soul gives man his self-consciousness • The body gives man his world consciousness • Man is carnal, Natural, Spiritual • Windows as it relates to the Body- Sight, Taste, Hearing, Smell, Touch • Windows as it relates to the soul, Imagination, Reason, Memory, Conscience, Affection • Window to the spirit deals primarily with your will
