  2. The summary page allows you to see a brief description of important information currently programmed into the VIP unit.

  3. “Name”

  4. The MAC Number is a unique hardware ID for each unit. The Mac Number can also be found on a label on the unit.

  5. “Device Type”

  6. How may channels the device has.

  7. And the firmware version that the unit left the factory with and what it is currently.

  8. The “Properties” tab allows you to enter a unique name for the device.

  9. The “Log Level” is used to determine the complexity of the Syslog information that the unit will send. Level “1” is used for typical call accounting.

  10. Enter the time zone the unit is located in so that the unit can automatically adjust offset from GMT.

  11. VIP units can use DHCP but a Static IP Address is preferred.

  12. Next enter the Subnet Mask for the LAN on which the devise resides.

  13. Enter the IP address of the Gateway connecting the LAN to other networks

  14. VIP devices can automatically send Syslog data to a Syslog server.

  15. Enter the Dial Code which will be used to access the unit or channel.

  16. Auto Destination is the Dial Code of another unit or channel to which the input of this channel is mapped.

  17. Enter the CID Name and Number as they should appear on a Caller ID display.

  18. Currently the VIP units only support the G.711 Codec. This Codec supports 8Khz of bandwidth.

  19. If you have an Auto Destination set up and the called party does not answer or is busy you can forward the call to another party.

  20. Enter the number of rings before you forward the call.

  21. You can set gain or attenuation for the audio input of each channel.

  22. You can also set gain or attenuation for the audio output of each channel.

  23. VOX activation can be used to on an audio input to initiate a call.

  24. A dry contact closure can be used to initiate a call on any channel.

  25. Input Function is used to activate the contact closure input.

  26. Activate On determines if the input activates on normally open or normally closed.

  27. You can associate a relay to follow any audio input, audio output or DTMF during a call.

  28. Use “Relay Function” to determine how you would like the relay to act.

  29. Any audio output can be part of any or all audio groups.

  30. Select Communications/Update Changed Devices to set the information to the VIP unit.

  31. The VIP unit is now programmed and ready for service.
