What is Web 2.0? - Community-based – we create the content - Richer user interface - Componentized and pluggable - Web-based (services, not software)
Why should you care? Web2.0 enables businesses to: - Connect/dialogue with customers/prospects - Offer coupons & increase sales - “Test the waters” with new ideas - Give the company a human side people can relate to - Share company news & updates - Promote branding - Use apps in conjunction with each other for maximum benefit - Perform competitive research & monitor industry

Dangers of Web2.0 Employees have access to Twitter, Facebook, etc. & can potentially damage your company by: - Revealing confidential information (Congressman Peter Hoekstra tweeted his arrival in Baghdad during a secret Congressional delegation trip to Iraq.) - Acting inappropriately (e.g. ranting, public fights with others, “astroturfing,” the Domino's disaster) IBM & others have instituted social media policies to prevent this.
