  1. Canterbury Tales Character Models • Pick a character from the Prologue who has sufficient “physical” description. • On a piece of construction paper, rewrite the characters description using first person. • Merchant: “I am the merchant with a forking beard and motley dress; high on my horse I sat, upon my head a Flemish beaver hat and on my feet daintily buckled boots”

  2. Visual Interpretation • On the other side of your paper, create a face of your character using as much physical description as possible provided by Chaucer. • You may use all provided art supplies to be as creative as possible. • Improvise facial details that may not be revealed in the text (hair, hats, facial hair, ear-rings, etc…) • Use the internet to search pictures of your character for guidelines in your project.

  3. Final Product • Your final product must have: • Your name and hour and your character’s name • The page number and line numbers in which your character’s description appears in the Literature book • On one side, the character’s complete description re-written using first person (I, me, my. . .) • On the other side, a worthy attempt at creating a visual representation of that character
