  2. Io The inside of Io is rock solid. Diameter – 3,360 km 421,600 km away from Jupiter The most volcanism of any object we know of. We have been told that the surface of Io looks like a pizza because of all the volcanoes.

  3. Europa The ridges are upward swelling liquid from underneath. Diameter – 3,138 km 670,900 km away from Jupiter The moon is said to be an almost perfect sphere. Europa shows icy crust a liquid mantle and a smaller rocky core.

  4. Ganymede Ganymede is the largest moon in our Solar system. Diameter – 5,262 km 1,070,000 km away from Jupiter. The darker parts on Ganymede are older and the lighter areas are newer. Similar to Europa may also procces a metallic core.

  5. Callisto Is the darkest of all the moons except for ours. Diameter - 4,800 km 1,883,800 km away from Jupiter. The Callisto surface is best described by “dirt ice”. Callisto has a very small core. Most of th middle layer is made up of water and rock .
