6th International Workshop on Rich Imaging Cherenkov Detectors in Trieste 2007

The 6th International Workshop on Rich Imaging Cherenkov Detectors will be held in Trieste in October 2007. The workshop will be hosted by INFN Trieste and will feature discussions and presentations on nuclear and subnuclear physics experiments. The workshop venue, Stazione Marittima Congress Centre, is located in the town center near hotels, restaurants, museums, and shopping areas. Hotel accommodation and meals will be provided, and transportation to and from hotels is not needed. The conference fee includes proceedings, coffee breaks, and workshop registration. Special travel support is available for participants from less favored regions.

The BaseLineOption“Stazione Marittima” The main feature of this proposal is the location of the Workshop Building, which is down-town, in the town centre, directly located on the see side, near (within walking distance) to several hotels, a number of restaurants, most of Trieste Museums, the historical nucleus of the town and the most elegant shopping area.

  6. Workshop building • At the Stazione Marittima Congress Centre, in the centre of the town, directly on the see side. The auditorium proposed is “Oceania” Room, version A + B, 132 seats (if needed, the option “Oceania” Room, version A + B + C, 275 seats can be considered). • A secretariat room will be available in the same building as well as a “terminal” room. • Lunches (Catering Service) will be served at the Congress Centre.

  7. Hotel accommodation • As a base-line we propose “3 stars” hotels in the town center, within walking distance from the Congress Centre. The cost of a single room can be about 100 € per night; sharing a double room can result in about 2/3 that cost per person. • In the center of the town, at a few minutes walk from the Stazione Marittima, there are also three “4 stars” hotels. • No transportation to/from hotels is needed. • Lunches • Voucers for the catering service at the congress centre, ~ 120 € for the six days. • Dinners • free for dinner; in the town center, and particularly near the see, they can found several restaurants with quite diversified offers (from pizza to a full fish dinners). NOTE: all cost are 2004 evaluation

Conference fee • 300 € • the conference fee includes: • proceeding copies • coffee breaks (twice per day) • workshop registration • Hosting Institution: • INFN • Supporting Institutions, expected • Trieste University • Area Science Park • The Town of Trieste • … • Special travel support for participants from less favored regions • Traveling expenses of 5 participants from less favoured regions can be covered.

  9. e-mails • A 2Mb/s line dedicated to the Workshop will be made available. We will provide 4 PCs, at least 8 Ethernet connections for personal laptops and a station for wireless laptop • How to reach Trieste • By plane, via Trieste International Airport with direct flights to and from Rome, Milan, Munich, Catania, Genoa, Belgrade, Budapest, London. A shuttle service connects the airport to the town center; the air terminal is located near the railway station. • By train; the railway station is in the town center. • By car; the motorway net is quite complete with connections to Venice, Vienna, Lubijana.

  10. Social program • It will include: • a welcome drink on the arrival evening • a banquet • a half a day excursion to Aquileia, to visit the relevant ruins of the Roman harbour installation • at least two 3 hour excursions in Trieste surroundings to visit (i) Miramare park and castle and (ii) Grotta Gigante, an immense natural cave, rich of geological masterpieces; these excursions can take place immediately after lunch with delayed afternoon Workshop sessions • the afteroon sessions of the days for which no excursion is foressen, can be quite anticipated to leave free time in late afternoon for visiting the town and the Museums and for shopping in the town centre
