What are the school hours? • Student day begins at 8:00 AM and ends at 2:45 PM. • First bell rings at 7:54 AM • Student should not arrive prior to 7:50 AM. • Please use the car loop area to the right of the building for student pick up and drop off. The bus loop is to be clear at all times.

Lunch • Make sure your child has a lunch or money to purchase a lunch each day • Breakfast $2.00 • Lunch $3.25 • Milk $.50 • Your child will get to choose a table. Sign-ups will take place after the first week or so • Point of Sale System (POS)- • Copy of codes for students who forget • Cash will still be accepted throughout the school year • Payments can be made online or students can bring in money to add to their account • Please keep track of account funds
When Does my child get a locker? • 6th grade get their lockers today! • 7th and 8th grades are assigned as soon as their Drug Policy & Computer Usage Form are signed & returned • Please remind your child to protect their combination • Students are not permitted to share lockers
What should my child nOT bring to school? • String bags • Large purses • Any items of value • Students assume full responsibility for their non-HPCSS owned technology devices.
How can my child Become involved? • Maintain grades, regular attendance, and good behavior to be eligible for quarterly incentive days • Band, Orchestra & Chorus • After School Program • Bridges Grant

Outdoor Education-North Bay October 20th-24th • 8/27 Parent Info. Night at 6:00 pm @ BBMS • All forms are available on the MWMS website • Cost $255.00. T-shirt $5.00 • 8/25- Fact sheet sent home with students in Monday folder • 9/2-5 Collection of fund-raiser materials during homeroom • 9/11 Letters to parents to identify the discount amount from fundraiser • 9/15-19 Field Trip permission slips, $, medical forms collected during homeroom. Collection areas will be my the cafeteria.
Does the school have a dress code? • YES!! • handbook, or HCPSS website for specific details. Excerpt from policies… • Tank tops, strapless tops, halter tops, expose midriff, pants worn low or too short that exposes skin or undergarments • Covers the head, including hats, sunglasses, bandanas, hoods and visors. • Promotes tobacco, drugs, alcohol or other illegal or harmful products • Contains rude, disrespectful, or discourteous expressions • Refer to agenda book, student
What do I do if my child is late or absent? • Note must be given to Student Services upon child’s arrival or return to school • Sign in your child in office if they are late • Pre-arranged absence forms are available in Student Services • School has consequences for excessive tardiness and truancy
What is PBIS? PBIS • Framework to encourage student responsibility, preparedness and respect. • Our core values focus on recognizing students to B-A-R-K at MWMS
Personal communication devices • Students are permitted to carry personal communication devices with them during the school day. They must be turned off or in silent mode at all times. These devices may not disrupt instructional times and should be put away (in a pocket, notebook, or locker). • Students may use their personal communication devices- • Before or after school hours • During lunch/recess • Students assume full responsibility for their non-HPCSS owned technology devices. • Consequences for using or ringing cell phones- • Confiscated and given to an administrator • Parents must come to collect the phone • Other consequences given if there is more than one violation
Social Networking- Cautions • 13 years old- Age requirement- Instagram, Kik, & Facebook • Texting & Email- Trust but verify • Cautions: • Bullying takes place over the Internet (cyberbullying policy) • Rumors get started • Privacy settings

What should you do when you meet up with your child? • Practice opening locker • 6th Grader- If you brought supplies, you can leave them in the locker today. • Walk thru your child’s schedule using the map • Helpful hint- 6th Graders- will use the 6th grade stairwell to move downstairs to upstairs between classes.
