  2. Most people talk about boleros and shrugs clubbed together in the same breath when there is a fine difference between the two. A shrug is worn over another dress or an outfit and is a form of cropped cardigan that stops below the waist. It can be matched with flowing pants, lightweight tops and tanks, or a dress. Shrugs are available with long or short sleeves and are good for any occasion, regardless of whether it is a casual outing with friends or a formal do at the office. Bolero jackets are similarly worn over a dress or any other outfit but there is no limitation on the length. Bolero jackets are often made of flowing materials that go below hip length or one that stops just above the waist. These jackets are generally good for formal occasions like an evening date out and are available in elaborate designs. The more flamboyant ones have fine embroidery or beads embedded all over.
