  2. Definitie “Critical limb ischemia” • Perifeer arterieel lijden = progressieve aandoening • Opstapeling plaque  bloedstroom ↓  zuurstofvoorziening ↓ • Lidmaat krijgt onvoldoende bloed/zuurstof = ISCHEMIE  Pijn  niet-helende wonden  gangreen  amputatie

Endovasculaire behandeling • Minimaal invasief • Lagere morbiditeit / mortaliteit • Vergelijkbare resultaten met bypass chirurgie Vaatheelkunde : chirurgisch & endovasculair • Bypass chirurgie = algemeen aanvaarde therapie • Tot 70% amputaties vermeden na 1 jaar • Niet alle patiënten komen in aanmerking : • Geen geschikt distaal aanhechtingsvat • Infectie op de anastomoseplaats • Levensbedreigende co-morbiditeiten (diabetes, longlijden, …)  Noodzaak aan alternatief
