CG Trainee Programs Trainee Center Cape May • Cape May, New Jersey • Enlisted Accession Point • Active Duty – 8 week program • Reserve Basic Indoctrination (REBI) – 2 week program • Prior Service Training (PSTP) – 4 ½ week program • Goal: ~5110 enlisted recruits (FY 2005) • October – 417 recruits • November – 357 recruits • December – 150 recruits (anticipated) • Attrition rate ~10%

  8. STI Surveillance Trainee Center Cape May • All recruits receive STI education • All females screened for gonorrhea & chlamydia • Gonorrhea – 0.3% of female recruits • Chlamydia – 3.9% of female recruits • No long-term follow-up studies on whether STI education is effective

  9. Research Initiatives • Prevention of lower extremity stress fractures using shock absorbing insoles - TRACEN Cape May • Febrile respiratory illness from adenovirus at TRACEN Cape May
