HOSA • HOSA is an organization made up of middle school, secondary and post secondary students. • The mission of HOSA is to promote career opportunities in health care science along with enhancing the delivery of quality health care to everyone.
HOSA Mission Statement • According to http://www.georgiahosa.org/WhatIsHOSA “The mission of HOSA is to enhance the delivery of compassionate, quality health care by providing opportunities for knowledge, skill and leadership development of all health science technology education students, therefore, helping students to meet the needs of the health care community.”

HOSA recognizes the need for • dedicated workers • technical skills • people-oriented healthcare workers • leadership skills • people who work well on teams • involvement in current health care issues
HOSA ACCESS • Association Leadership - able to articulate the goals and vision of HOSA. • Community Involvement -volunteer for local and state community service project • Career Exploration – includes essay, journal entries, cover letter, resume, and mock interviews • Experience – hands on experience with community service hours, journal entries, committee member for local chapter • Student Leadership - chair or co-chair for chapter committee and attend a state level conference, plus make a presentation on the values of HOSA • Success -ACCESS portfolio, submit an article to the E-Magazine
Who is the Service Project Partner? • At this time the Georgia selected service project partner for HOSA is American Red Cross. • Every two years Georgia HOSA selects a new service project partner. • Local HOSA chapters plan service projects throughout the year to help support the state selected service project partner.
Who is the National HOSA Service Project Partner? At this time the National service project partner is the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Voting Delegates at the National Leadership Conference in 2010 selected Diabetes Research Foundation. A new service project partner will be selected every two years at the Leadership Conference.
HOSA's Competitive Events Program • According to http://www.georgiahosa.org/CompetitiveEvents health careers education can be seen at its best with “rigorous testing of knowledge, performance, skill, and leadership capabilities aimed at developing, encouraging, and recognizing the brightest future health care professionals. HOSAs competitive events are divided into six (6) different categories which are Health Science Events, Health Professions Events, Emergency Preparedness Events, Leadership Events, Teamwork Events, and Recognition Events”
