Purpose Of Mainframe… • Mainframe computers  are power computers used primarily by corporate and governmental organizations for critical applications, bulk data or processing million of records each day such as •   census • industry and consumer statistics,  • enterprise resource planning • Transaction processing

Operating it divides into three main areas – • mainframe operations (day-to-day running the driver who identifies a problem) • technical support (systems programmers - the mechanics who fine-tune the engine) • software development (engine designers).
