  2. 220 Soft Ltd - A Brief History • Formed in August 2002 by Pete Davidson and John Snowden • First products were CD Networkable courses “First Steps” and “Life in Great Britain” • In 2006 launched Web versions of both of the courses programmed using the “220 Web Engine” • 2009 launched the first of Diagnostic/Assessment range“IT’s Numeracy” • The 220 Team is now six strong in house with a further five consultants advising on educational directions, producing courses and opening up new markets

Educationally Sound Principles • All materials are produced by the Team who have taught, lectured as well as advising LEA’s • Assessments are fully customisable for question selection, level, timing, number of questions and more • Screening programs included to assess the level a learner needs to start • Basic & Functional Curriculums followed from Government standards – Entry Level 1 up to Level 2 • Full human English speech included

The Tutor Decides (1) Administrators choose global settings and individual tutors can customise assessments for each class: Simply choose the level, starting question number, number of questions and order. OR After choosing the level, select the questions you want to include by ticking the boxes. The syllabus references and the questions themselves can all be viewed to help you make these choices.

The Tutor Decides (2) Administrators choose global settings for the test screens and individual tutors can customise them for each class: • Navigation bar (showing unvisited, visited or answered) can be on or off • Speech (and speakers) can be on or off • A countdown timer can be set to a time or off • A prompt showing correct or wrong can optionally be displayed after each answer • If the above prompt is “on”, the correct answer can optionally be displayed if the answer is wrong • The syllabus reference can be displayed (if it is “on”, rolling over it displays the outcome in words. Note: We do not recommend the answer prompts and the navigation bar are selected together to prevent learners returning to questions they know are wrong.

  8. English Speech Numeracy and maths assessments often require competence in literacy to complete the tasks. To remove the literacy “test” from the numeracy assessment, Full human speech is included in IT’s Numeracy. Click the speakers on this sample screen to hear the paragraphs read. Please Note: The speech samples are taken from the actual course, but are being played through the PowerPoint software. This results in the speakers not being animated as they play.

Initial Screening • If you are not sure which level to start the assessment, the Initial Screening programs will indicate the starting point: • Available for both Curriculums (Core and Functional Skills) • The screening has 25 Progressive Questions from Entry Level 1 to Level 2 • No Learner is pushed beyond their comfort level • Occasional messages are displayed asking the Learner if they are happy to continue or wish to end the test • Provides Guidelines for the Level that each Learner should be fully assessed from

  10. Extensive Reporting Reports and other information can be accessed from the administrator/tutor section. Data from class averages right down to viewing questions together with student responses is available. A few of the many report screens are shown here. Clicking "Review" allows you to manage the individual classes. The tutor report showing which questions were answered correct, wrong or passed. The mouse is hovering over the third question showing the learning outcome. Colour coding shows the range of the results at a glance. Class averages for the outcomes are displayed. Individual student performance is obtained from their "Review" Reviewing a question where "6" was given as the answer but "8" is the correct answer

  11. Exportable Data Data can be exported in .csv format. The exported data can then be imported into applications such as Microsoft Excel to produce and manipulate tables and graphs of the results. Some samples are shown on the right.
