  2. swiftly shift to low-carbon economies in developed countries support developing countries to build and restructure their energy systems in a climate friendly way, by promoting a supportive policy environment and technology transfer increase global justice, adaptation to climate change and the protection of biodiversity is key General objectives

  3. Following the IPCC reports (2007) additional investment and financial flows will be needed in 2030 amounting up to 200–210 billion US $ to return global GHG emissions to current levels amounting up to several tens of billion US $ for adaptation Financial needs for internat. climate protection measures

  4. Germany auctions nearly 10 % of the allowances from the European emissions trading (2008-2012) Approx. 400 million € of the revenues are used annually to finance climate protection actions both on domestic and on international level Approx. 120 million € are used annually for the international part in developing countries and economies in transition Auctioning emission allowances

  5. Effective contribution to emissions reduction and adaptation to climate change Protection of climate-relevant biodiversity Promoting development of innovative and replicable projects Demonstrating that climate protection is possible and has economic effects Paving the way for a post-2012 climate regime through targeted cooperation with emerging, developing and transition countries Objectives of the International Climate Protection Initiative
