HRSC Data Products Thomas Roatsch, DLR 22-May-2008
Data Products (1) • All Levels: • One file per sensor and imaging sequence • Level-2: • Radiometrically Calibrated Data • Input for Photogrammetric Processing
Data Products (2) Level-3: Geometrically Corrected based on MOLA and Map Projected Level-4: Digital Terrain Models (DTM) Orthophotos (Nadir and Colors)
Data Products (3) Radiance = RADIANCE_OFFSET + DN * RADIANCE_SCALING_FACTOR Unit is W*m**-2*sr**-1 Reflectance = DN * REFLECTANCE_SCALING_FACTOR
Level-2 (1) • The dataare signed 16-bit data either from data transmitted as 14-bit data (SRC only) or 8-bit data. • The format of the data is a raster format. • All dark, dummy, isolation, and affected pixel are removedfrom the image.
Level-2 (2) SRC image size differs: Bypassed data: 1008 pixels x 1018 lines Compressed data: 1008 pixels x 1008 lines Some cruise data in old mode: Bypassed data: 1007 pixels x 1018 lines Compressed data: 1000 pixels x 1008 lines
Level-2 (3) Error pixel are marked with the following negativevalues: -1 blemish pixel one pixel for SRC for one blemish one whole column for HRSC for one blemish -2 bad pixel (telemetry or decompression problems) typical size: 8 lines x 512 pixels -8 saturated pixel Bad pixels affect other pixels during compression (8x8) !
Filenaming Convention • The following structure of filenames will be used: • Hoooo_mmmm_DDl.IMG • camera id H • orbit number oooo • image number in one orbit mmmm • detector id dd • (can be nd, s1, s2, p1, p2, re,ir, gr, bl, 10, 11, sr) • - level (2,3,4) l • example: • H1234_0023_ND2.IMG • (small letters at PDS)
HRSC Data in PSA and PDS (1) • all HRSC data are both in PDS and VICAR format • all data until orbit 4479 available from PSA/PDS • (June 2007) • Level-2 • MEX-M-HRSC-3-RDR-V2.0
HRSC Data in PSA (2) • Level-3 • MEX-M-HRSC-5-REFDR-MAPPROJECTED-V2.0 = sinusoidal projection for |center_latitude| < 85°, radius = 3396.19 = stereographic projection |center_latitude| > 85°, radius = 3376.2
HRSC Data in PSA (3) • Level-4 • MEX-M-HRSC-5-REFDR-DTM-V1.0 = sinusoidal projection for |center_latitude| < 85°, = stereographic projection |center_latitude| > 85°, = MOLA radius for both projections (3396.0 km) Data until orbit 1961 released, monthly updates
Display Programs • -IDL reader and nasaview are very slow and can not • read the large HRSC files • XVD can do this job • available from PSA
