Task 1 Find out what people would like at a party. [Consider limiting some choices] Some questions you could ask:- • Name • Choice of snack • Choice of flavour • Sandwich choice • Drink choice • Music choice How are you going to collect and collate all this information? How will you find out the favourite food, drink and music? How can you find out the most popular of all the choices quickly? (this might help you if you have to make decisions on what to buy to please the majority of people
Task 2 Research entertainment – plan what you are going to need, say, find out about. Consider:- DJ’s, juggling, bouncy castle circus acts • What questions you need to ask the entertainment i.e. what the entertainment is, type of music played (use questionnaire results), the cost, space needed (think of other relevant questions) • How to research for the entertainment. • How do you know the entertainment would be suitable for a party at school? • If using websites, how do you know or how can you check if a website is genuine and can be trusted?
Task 3 Research food/drink costs - explain how you went about finding out the costs and making decisions on what to buy Consider:- healthy foods • The results of your questionnaire • Where to find the costs (websites, shops) • How many people will attend • Buying in bulk
Task 4 Costs – produce a spreadsheet showing the total costs Consider:- • What the entertainment costs, • Food and drink costs • Produce a spreadsheet so that by changing the variables (costs), a best overall total cost can be obtained (variables = different costs of crisps and drink, buying multi packs; dividing total costs by number of attendees; what to charge people) • How you are going to display your results • How does this method compare with another method?
Task 5 Advertise – design a poster considering your audience; produce a video advertising your event for publishing on your school website. Consider:- your audience, the purpose of the advert, which media to use and why. • .
Task 6 Lights – set up a light sequence (operated by a switch) possibly in time to a piece of music
