Google Play is upgrading the SD & HD movies to 4K for free • Today, Google announced in a blog post that Google Play customers in Canada and US are going to have several updates, which promises to change their movie-watching experience. In the recent times, any movies you have purchased in HD or SD available in 4K quality is now going to be upgraded automatically to stream in 4K.
Google Play • If you launch the Play Movies & TV app, it will tell which titles have had the upgrades applied. Also, Google Play has now reduced the cost of most titles, which used to be around $30, and now have been lowered by about $20. • Google Play started with approx 125 titles in 4K resolution, and a fantastic number are available only for the U.S. and Canada. In addition to the upgrades of content, Google is working on UHD content to make it available more widely on existing devices. Users with 4K television will no longer have the need of Chromecast Ultra or 4K Android TV set-top box.
Last but not least, for watching titles in 4K with the Play Movies & TV app, Google has expanded device support. Now, in addition to running and working with 4K Sony Bravia TVs, it has also started to work with most 4K Samsung Smart TVs. The company also claims that it’s working on adding support for LG TVs as well.
