Ourfamily • The family is the basic social unit in most societes. • Ideally, it provides its members protection, love, warmth, care, tenderness and so on. • The structure of the family is various. • The most common one is the nuclear family – father, mother and their children. • In some societes it is a part of an extended family which also consists of grandparents and other relatives. • Another type of family unit is the single-parent family in which children live with an unmarried, divorced or widowed mother or father. • A step family is created by the new marriage of a single parent. • Number of childless families is increasing.

Although most people do get married these days, there are more and more young people who prefer to stay single, though they live and raise children together. • It did not use to be like that because women used to stay and work at home so if they would separate, they would have had quite a problem to get by. • Many people get married as late as at the age of thirty or even later. Before that they prefer to concentrate on their studies and then work and they also focus on earning money. • Modern mothers are getting older and older. Career seems to be more important to them so it always comes first. We can rarely see big families with four or more children nowadays. • There is also a strong influence by celebrities who get divorcedvery often . So, to be divorced has stopped being a disgrace. • Some elderly couples, most often widowed, are finding it more economically practical to live together without marrying. FAMILY NOWADAYS

Problemsoffamilyubringing • CORPORAL PUNISHMENTS • Some people say that corporal punishments should be permitted but use in a limited way. • When children do something wrong, it is not necessary to beat it. First, we have to try to explain it and teach them not to do this any more. Once the child realize what did and the goal is achieved. • Howewer, it is very difficult to explain in word to young children what they should avoid doing. Slapping someone is sometimes a quick and clear response and is over at once. I think that psychological punishments are worse than corporal ones.

7. Problemsoffamilyubringing • DIVORCE • Divorces have a bad influence on children. Children sometimes miss one of parents and his/her role in family and it would cause later troubles in partners´ relationships of children. • Moreover, there can be unhappy atmosphere in family and it can causes changes of the children´s characters. • And sometimes parents allow children everything because they have bad conscience due to the divorce.

Problemsoffamilyubringing • GENERATION GAP • Generation gap is caused by behaviour and opinions on various aspects of life between parents and children. • There are many reasons of conflicts: • One of them is spending children´s leisure time. • The parents are also critical of school results. • Another reason is children´s friends. Parents sometimes do not like friends of their children, especially boyfriends or girlfriends. • Another point of criticism is laziness and lifestyle of teenagers.

11. The person I likethe most • The person I like the most is my grandfather Jaroslav Zítko. Despite of his death before 3 years, he is still in my heart. • He was born in January 1943 in a small village Mrzkovice. At the age of 20 he got married Marie – my grandmother - and they have had 2 children – my mother and uncle Jaroslav. • He was tall. When he was young, his hair was brown but it became grey. His eyes were also brown. He had some wreckles in his face. • He had nor graduation exams nor a degree but he learnt the basic of light current. So I think he was very clever. His hobbies were reading books and repairing various things. • When I was child, he used to take me from the pre-school and he used to teach me drawing and so on. During these activities he used to tell me fairytailes about 2 dogs – Alík and Azor. • I miss my grandad a lot and I do my best so that he could be proud of me.
