What are we waiting for? • Confirmation of funding entitlement for degree holders • Confirmation of who administers placement support • Confirmation of impact on 2016/17 Foundation year zero students • Loan forgiveness (like teachers in 2004)
Good news • One Funding Application • Statutory rights to funding for repeat study • More money • Termly payments – more money paid to students during academic year • These students will be included under the UWE Access Agreement
Access Agreement • 20% of fees above £6k directed to WP initiatives • 1,000 students = £600k in 2017/18 • Eligible for the UWE Bursary • No need to fight for the Learner Support Fund for NHS students
Bad news • No Maternity Bursary • Level of student debt • Subject to the DSA changes • Inclusion of step-parents in income-assessment • Termly payments of funding
Key Messages • Price tag vs. cost • Loan write-off • More money while study especially for lone parents and disabled students
UWE’s draft plan of action • Talks to HE advisers in January/March • Resources for teachers at schools and colleges • Staff briefings at Glenside and Gloucester To do • Applicant information • Web information, student handouts
