  2. APPLYING FOR AID WWW.FAFSA.ED.GOV • 14-15 FAFSA • Apply every year after January 1st • UNTHSC School Code: 009768 • Applying sooner is better, some programs are first come-first serve (ex: grant funds)

  3. SCHOLARSHIPS • General Academic Scholarship • Deadline is usually March 1 (scholarships are for the following academic year) • External scholarships posted on our website. • Do scholarship searches on your own as well

  4. TCOM Loan Info • Unsubsidized Loans—5.41% fixed interest rate with 1.072% origination fee taken out of loan • Graduate PLUS Loans—6.41% fixed interest rate with a 4.288% origination fee taken out of loan. This is a credit based loan, and additional paperwork is required.

  5. TCOM Loan Info • Federal maximum amount of unsubsidized loans for 1st year is $44,944. • Federal guidelines state we can only award up to your cost of attendance (COA) per year. • Must complete entrance loan counseling/master promissory note before funds are disbursed.

HOW DO I GET THE MONEY? • Funds are sent to the school electronically • School charges are taken out first • Receive your funds by direct deposit (must be set up in advance with Student Financials) OR A paper check is printed and mailed by Student Financials • Student Financials will e-mail you when a refund has been processed.

DISBURSEMENT DATES Disbursement: the day we request the funds to be sent to UNTHSC, NOT the day you receive them MPN and Entrance Counseling is complete AND you are enrolled at least ½ time TCOM students always full time Legally we cannot release any funds prior to 10 days before your first day of class, so plan ahead. For 1st year students, scheduled for mid-July.
