A job of my dream Done by Vladimir Kovalev
What I study. • My specialty is law. Law of social welfare in particular. Of course I study other pieces of law like civil law, employment law, family law and others, but law of social welfare is the main one.
My future work. • My future work involve dealing with different people that are seeking social security: pregnant women and young mothers, invalid persons and aged people. My job is to communicate with them and answer their questions about our law system.
Where can I work? • The main place I can work in after graduation is a pension fund, where I give consultations. Other options are social welfare agencies, private law firms and even courts.
Do I really need a foreign language? • Yes, that has nothing to do with a foreign language, as our law system is very different from the other countries’ systems. Because of that I won’t be able to work in any other county than Russia. But I want to continue my education
Plans for the future. • I have no plans of finishing my education in the college. Moreover, I don’t want to work in a social sphere for all of my life. On the contrary, I want to continue my education. And the way I’m going to choose is a way with international law.
International law. • In my opinion, international law is the most complicated piece of law. But I never seek an easy path. I like learning foreign languages and dealing with different kind of people not only in Russia, but in other countries too.
What I likein international law. • Even though I don’t study international law as a subject, I already have a knowledge about other countries’ law systems. For example, Great Britain and the USA have a precedential law system.
Precedential system. • That means that they don’t always have to prove one’s guiltiness, but simply to find a case that was already judged. And I like it. In Russia, however, you have to use laws in every single case, which I find rather irritating.
The profession. • A job of my dream is to be a Minister of Foreign Affairs. I admire and respect a lot our Minister Sergei Lavrov, who done a lot on the international arena. But that position is very hard to achieve, so if not a minister, I want to become a member of our Federal Assembly.
My final word. • It was a pleasure for me to take part in this contest. I hope you liked my work. Thank your for your attention.
