Limits to Population Growth and Predicting the Impact of Human Population Growth Elena Velez, Alyssa Rusch hr2
Limiting factors are things or circumstances that prevent a species or population from increasing. Carrying capacity is when a population or species exceeds an environments capacity to uphold or "house" the species. Limiting factors and Carrying capacity
Density; dependant and independant factors • Density dependant factors reduce and cut back the population and regulate it's size. • Density independant factors are those that affect a species carrying capacity through natural causes.
Growth happens in cycles: factors include birthrates, deathrates, predators, a species fertility rate, natural conditions and/or environmental contributors. Causes of population growth cycles
History of Human Population - Disease, wars, lack of food poor living conditions, and lack of sanitation. + Better sanitation, more accessible food supply, medical breakthroughs and increased technology.
Nation's age structure affects population growth • Age structure of a population is the proportion of people in different age groups. • If a country or environment is improving, the age structure changes.
