History of Farsons • "The Malta Export Brewery" was created when the first owned Maltese bank, well-known in 1840 by Giuseppe Scicluna, took over one of their customer's jobs in 1928. They were granted a short-term private licence to manufacture lagers and from this take-over were born Malta's first Bavarian inspired beers, the 'Cisk Pilsner' and the 'CiskMunchener'.
EVEN MORE History! • The Malta Export Brewery eventually merged with Simonds Farsons Limited in 1948. This company had been formed in 1929 by the union of the local brewing firm, L. Farrugia & Sons (named'Farsons') and the Maltese office of the Simonds Brewery based in Reading,Berkshirein the United Kingdom. The new company became Simonds FarsonsCisk Limited.

JULIAN’S EXPERIENCE (IN BRIEF) • ‘My visit to Farsons Brewery was a very memorable experience indeed. We first watched a short video introduction and had the chance to ask some questions. Next we went to the brew house, and where told the 4 main ingredients to make beer: WATER,MALT,HOPS AND YEAST. We then went to see the bottling of 7 UP. Believe it or not at first a bottle is a small (30cm), solid. Lastly we went to see the process of bottling the nation’s popular Cisk. Finally we walked back to the bus with a free soft drink in hand’
KRISTINA’S EXPERIENCE(IN BRIEF) • ‘I really had fun and enjoyed myself. The video was interesting and nice. I liked when they showed us the ingredients. And so far it has been the best outing in all years.’
