CELL ANALOGY POSTER Create a poster presenting analogies about the organelles; relate their function to something in everyday life. Draw the cell, its organelles, and have a visual representation of the object in the analogy. MAKE A 3-D MODEL Construct a model of a plant or animal cell. Label each of the organelles. In the key, describe the function. Use materials that are the correct shape and proportion. Make a SCRAPbook Draw each organelle or create a collage. For each organelle, present the following: Where is your organelle found in the cell and why? What is your organelle's function? Why is it important? What would happen if your cell didn’t have this organelle? AUTHOR A CHILDREN’S BOOK Write and illustrate a children’s book to teach about a day in the life of a cell and its organelles. Teach what each of the organelles does to help the cell stay alive. Be creative! WRITE A POEM or SONG Choose one organelle and write a poem/song about its function. This must be 3 minutes in length when recorded or performed. It must describe the organelle’s location, function, shape, etc. Be creative! Choose ONE project to complete and turn in on the deadline. Sign up for the project of your choice on Monday. You will be provided with a rubric for your specific project. CREATE A TRAVEL GUIDE You are a microscopic molecule. Pretend the cell is a hot vacation spot (amusement park, famous city, etc). Create a travel brochure that tells about each site (organelle) and what it has to offer (its function) MAKE AN INFOMERCIAL Create an infomercial for Cell-Mart about at least 5 organelles. “Sell” that cell! Be creative! This must be videotaped and played in class. This should describe the function of the organelles you are “selling”. DESIGN A COSTUME Design and create a costume that represents one organelle. Be mindful of textures, shape, etc. for the organelle. You will model your costume. You will also include a listing of other important organelles and their functions.
