  1. MissouriEmergency Response Information Plan Overview

  2. Vision Provide every school in Missouri with an all-hazards preparedness system that will help public and private schools and their public safety stakeholders better prevent, mitigate, respond to and recover from critical incidents through integrated planning, training and access to tactical response information.

  3. Preparedness Starts Here • ERIP is a secure, server based system that improves preparedness and mitigates emergencies through integrated planning, training and access to tactical response information.

  4. Background in Missouri • Over 1,500 public and private schools (K-12 ) are already registered for the Public Health Planning for Schools ERIP (dhss.safeplans.net). This public health planning tool was funded by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services via a grant to the Missouri School Boards’ Association.

  5. Where ERIP is Headed • In December, 2006, Gov. Blunts’ Homeland Security Advisory Committee (HSAC) voted to use Federal Homeland Security dollars to expand the DHSS ERIP program to provide all-hazards plans for all Missouri Educational Institutions (daycare, K-12 and Higher Education). • This expenditure marked the onset of one of the largest and most aggressive preparedness initiatives for schools in the Nation.

  6. CAD ERIP EM Systems E Team WEB EOC STARRS RR/ E Team FUTURE ? ERIP Integration • To ensure critical response information is available to first responders, ERIP is being integrated into the Missouri Emergency Resource Information System (MERIS).

  7. What is MERIS? • MERIS is a secure web-based system that enables public safety and emergency management officials to efficiently share information and collaborate on planning, training and response efforts. The State of Missouri has provided access to MERIS to all public safety agencies.

  8. ERIP & Emergency Plans • ERIP’s plan development program helps emergency planners develop better, NIMS compliant, plans in less time. This intuitive system helps to ensure comprehensive plans are provided in a consistent format – even across a large geographic area like Missouri!

  9. Customizable Content • The ERIP planning system follows the best practice guidelines and planners are still able to customize emergency plan content to account for: • Age of Students • Architecture of Buildings • Area Hazards • Areas Resources

  10. Best Practice Emergency Plans • The Missouri Office of Homeland Security is currently conducting Concept of Operations Workshops for each module (Daycare, K-12 and Higher Education) to ensure the plan content and tutorials meet the exact specifications of Missouri’s subject matter experts.

  11. Local Collaboration • To maximize collaboration between educational leaders and their public safety counterparts, ERIP includes a downloadable Joint Planning Meeting Toolkit. This toolkit can help to serve as a catalyst for public safety involvement in, and validation of the facilities emergency preparedness program.

  12. Key ERIP Planning Components • Follows Missouri Best Practice Templates • All-Hazards, with comprehensive Pandemic Plan • NIMS Compliant • Fully Customizable • Available via Secure Internet and PDF • Campus, District, and School Level Plans • Integrated Quick Reference Flip Charts • Best Practice Updates • Automatic Tracking of Revisions
