Assignment • 1. Choose a partner (2 x 13 = 26) • 2. Select a poem by searching your text book or any other English book that is present in the room. (Keep in mind that if you pick a poem in a book other than our lit text, you’ll have to provide the class with a copy of your poem.) Choose a good poem! • 3. Pick 2 cards from Mr. Kirk to help determine when you’ll present your report.
Presentation requirements • 1. Perform the poem. To get credit for your performance, the poem must be read with the inflection and feeling intended by the author. • 2. Explain the literal meaning of the poem. What is it about? Explain. Make clear. (I say “Yes, that’s right!” or “No, that’s not.”) • 3. Point out at least two poetry terms that are used in the writing of the poem. Y/N (List follows) • 4. Explain the underlying meaning of the poem. What is its theme?
