Update Magnet 1 • After the extended pump and purge period the vacuum reached 5.8x10-6 Torr. After an RGA scan the water peak had reached 3.5x10-6 Torr. A rate of rise test at that point gave 1.08x10-8 Torr/sec • The LN2 pre-cooling started on schedule on the 22nd May. Twelve 240 litre dewers were used over a three day period. • The chamber was purged with Helium gas and pumped down to a few mBar, 5 times to ensure no residual LN2 was present. No part of the chamber reached below 100K • LHe cooling started on the morning of the 25th, the cool down to LHe temperatures took approximately 6 hours and utilised approximately 1250 litres of liquid Helium. • The last part of the dewer was used the next morning. • We are now waiting for another delivery of LHe to top off the volume and also to refill after a training run. • We will start setting up for the energising from today, 30th, unknown how long this section will take.

Update Magnet 2 • All sensors and heaters have been installed to the cold mass. • The cold mass has been wrapped with MLI. • The radiation shield is ready for assembly around the cold mass and will be put in place today. • The vacuum chamber is having some grinding work done at the moment to prepare for the welding of the support feet. • All 8 cold mass supports have been wrapped with MLI and ready for installation. • Six 2 stage cold heads have had their new hardware installed, the sensors will be installed as soon as they arrive from calibration at Fermilab.
