Monash Abroad Travel Scholarship – Will be processed in early November, please make sure you complete the Monash Abroad online application (application instructions were sent on the 16th of October) Monash Travel Insurance – Your travel insurance registration is linked to your Monash Abroad application, insurance certificate will be sent to you with the Monash Abroad approval email in early November. Policy excludes iPhone, iPad, tablets. • Med icalexpenses: if you are deemed unfit to travel by a medical professional. • Family and friends that accompany you on the trip • International car hire • Regular or ongoing medical treatment for pre-existing medical conditions. • Evacuations from countries that are considered unsuitable for travel by The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade • Training or participating in professional sports. • Loss caused by acts of war. • What is covered? • Emergency medical expenses - including evacuation costs. • Additional expenses and/or cancellation and curtailment due to unforeseen circumstances • Theft, loss, or damage to baggage • Motor vehicle excess for car hire insurance. • Political and natural disaster evacuation expenses. • Sporting activities (non-professional). • Personal travel incidental to authorised university related travel

  2. ClaimsSubmit a claim form with your supporting documents as soon as reasonably possible Excess$100 for claims on baggage and personal effects $1000 for claims on laptops and personal computers. EmergencyContact AHI assist+ 61 2 9978 6666 (reverse charges).

  3. Visa Application • Non Chinese Citizens need to apply for a visa. Instructions were sent on the 22nd of Oct. Please read the instructions carefully. • Apply under visa Category F 1. Complete the visa application form and attach a photo (light background, size 48mm x 33mm). Sample application form is attached with the instruction email. 2. Invitation letter from host university (SISU Shanghai or UIBE Beijing) (attached with the email) 3. Letter from Monash Abroad confirming the program (attached with the email) 4. Passport copy (A4 size) 5. Previous passport with a Chinese Visa if applicable 6. Your previous Chinese passport if applicable • Visa service Centre website http://www.visaforchina.org/MEL_EN/

  4. Amendments to enrolment procedures • Important Dates: • Final withdrawal date without penalty: 21 November 2014 • Withdrawal late status and late fee: 21 November 2014 – 1 January 2015 • Enrolment amendment process: • From Australia: Collect and submit an Enrolment Amendment Form from the Faculty of Arts Student Services Counter • OR • From China: Email arts-outbound-students@monash.edu with an enrolment amendment request from your Monash student email account. • Changes to study load (withdrawing from one or both units) will result in the requirement to return some or all of your Monash Abroad Scholarship/Travel Grant.

  5. Scholarships and Travel Grants • Scholarships • There is no application process. Scholarship recipients will be selected by the Chinese studies program. • To be eligible you must be an Australian citizen, currently enrolled in a Chinese studies unit. If you have previously completed a Chinese studies unit, you are also eligible to be considered, but must notify the coordinator of that unit. • Successful recipients will be emailed an offer letter, with instructions on how to accept the scholarship. When Monash Abroad have received your acceptance, funds will be transferred into your nominated bank account. • Travel grants • All students enrolled in the program will receive a travel grant of of either $500 (for the 3 week program) or $900 (for the 6 week program) to be paid into their nominated bank account. • Changes to study load (withdrawing from one or both units) will result in the requirement to return some or all of your Monash Abroad Scholarship/Travel Grant.
