Introduction to the PPS Aim • To preserve at least one representative of the Pacer family of railbuses (Classes 142-144) for future generations: • Preservation and operation of a Pacer-type railbus • Establish and maintain a collection of Pacer-related documents and artefacts, as both a historical record and as an archive for enthusiasts and preservationists. • Improve public awareness of the Pacer-type railbuses
Introduction to the PPS Who are the Pacer Preservation Society? • Relatively new addition to the preservation scene • Formed in January 2011 • Alan Wilson, the Class 58 Preservation Group’s membership secretary decided to form a dedicated society for the Pacers • Such a society had been proposed by enthusiasts prior to this but not actually done. • Membership figure: 20 (Sept 2011) • Well visited website: http://pacer-preservation.webs.com • Host regular meetings at Crewe • Society’s own magazine and bulletins
