Agenda • A little professional learning matched to Core Knowledge and Common Core • An opportunity to share your thoughts and work around implementation • A review of where to find support for implementation • Planning Time—and lots of it. Use #teachnv if you see something cool today!
Robert Pondiscio • Former 5th grade teacher • Former Director of Communications for Core Knowledge • Executive Director of Citizenship First Focus Question: Pondiscio asserts that reading is not a skill you teach but a condition you create. How does he support this statement?
Sharing • Describe an early problem implementing CK and something you’ve done to solve it. • Describe a scaffold you’ve created to help all students access the work of the lesson. • Describe an artifact that you brought with you. Use #teachnv if you see something cool today!
Sharing, the protocol • Create a foursome with people from a different school with representation from the following dot sticker colors: blue, red, green and yellow. • Each person will have exactly four minutes to talk to the sharing prompts (we’ll repost the slide) • We’ll have 10 minutes for follow-up questions after everyone has shared.
